Q342 is a piece for a live-electronic-duet. Two players facing each other, performing a structured improvisation using computers, a variety of controllers, taktile sensors, live-sampling, and no-input-mixer. Hauptmeier-Recker developed their own spatializing system that enables them to include complex spatial gestures intuitively into their live playing. The spatialization of sounds in a 3D-space becomes an integral part of the live performance and is equally important to the composition as sound, timbre, pitch, gestures etc.. The room itself becomes an instrument, that is played simultaneously by both performers.
