Crossing the Sea

Crossing the Sea is a multimedia work for projection mapping and live sound design. The work was a collaboration between Lukas Löffler, Martin Recker and Paul Hauptmeier and took place during the international Student Week Ilmenau.
In 2014, 3419 people died on the Mediterranean, all of them trying to find a new life. »Crossing the Sea« is an audiovisual architectural installation reflecting their journey. The story was developed together with people from Afghanistan and Syria, transforming their experiences into an abstract shadow play. While the video was projected on two facades of a university building, the sound design was created live and led to a process were sound and projection both influenced each other.
